01 The premise
Identity begins at the self.
Every top-down identity system eventually serves whoever sits at the top. The Mesh Republic inverts the stack: identity begins at the self, each citizen is their own certificate authority, money is minted from personhood rather than capital, and the whole record is witnessed by Bitcoin, the hardest ledger humans have built. The field behind the title above is the Mandelbrot set, drawn by your browser just now from one iterated rule; infinite unique structure from a single simple law is the entire thesis, and it is why the Republic's currency carries the name.
02 What is already real
This project ships code, not just fiction.
Kudzu, the constitutional AI described in the book, runs today: 23,000 lines of Elixir enforcing pluggable constitutions with fail-closed denial and a full audit trail. When its judge is unreachable, it refuses rather than permits. From the live logs:
Next on the roadmap, in order: distilled governance constitutions, Autonym identity chains with Bitcoin anchoring, and the Mandelbrots provisional ledger. This page will show the Republic's latest Bitcoin anchor the day one exists.
03 The canon
Three repositories. One stack.
The Mesh Republic whitepaper
Governance, token economics, Bitcoin Layer 1 anchoring, the security ratchet.

Self-sovereign identity; every person their own certificate authority; the enrollment oracle.

The constitutional AI platform, running in production. Elixir, BEAM, holographic memory.

A short lexicon.
- Autonym
- your self-named, self-rooted identity; soulbound, it hardens with time
- mandelbrot
- the currency; 1 mandelbrot = 100,000,000 brots
- brot
- the base unit; literally bread, your daily bread of the Republic
- Kudzu
- the constitutional AI that earns its keep and cannot be bought
- the ratchet
- anchoring that only relaxes under proven security, never by vote
- VCP
- Value Communications Protocol; the brot is a wire for value, not a warehouse
